About

Glass

Weill

My name is Matt Weill

Glassblowing has always been my destiny.  I spent my childhood hanging in the hot shop and helping in any way I could with my Uncle Andrew at Manchester Hot Glass, in Manchester, Vermont. It was there that I fell in love with the art of glass blowing.  I have always been mesmerized how glass artists can manipulate a hot molten object into anything imaginable.

I continued my glass  journey working under Leonard DiNardo, a renowned  glass blower in Livingston, NJ.  Lenny taught me the basics of glass blowing and what could be accomplished.  During this time, it became clear to me that glassblowing was in my future.  I studied at the Salem CC Glass Center and earned a degree in scientific glass and glass art.  I learned the techniques of flame-working and borosilicate glass and took many soft glass studio classes.

Upon graduation I worked for several different glass studios including Simon Pearce, one of the United States top production glass facilities.  I am currently working for AO Glass in Burlington, Vermont, a premier lighting company.  In addition to working at AO Glass, I have my own flame working studio which provides me with an opportunity to create borosilicate  pieces.  I also enjoy my spare time in the hot shop creating my own designs.  I take all opportunities to work with other glass artists to collaborate and continue honing my skills as a glass blower.

I love being a glass blower!
